Acceptance of Terms

By using FishingAdvisor (the “site,” “service,” “we,” “us,” “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the site.

These Terms govern your use of FishingAdvisor at fishingadvisor.app and the FishingAdvisor mobile app. They form a binding agreement between you and Christopher Hilmoe (the site’s owner). Please read them carefully.

Description of Service

FishingAdvisor is a fishing conditions advisor. It analyzes current weather, water, and solunar conditions for your selected location and target species, and produces a behavior interpretation plus lure and bait recommendations with explanations.

The current service covers inland freshwater fishing in the United States — walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, crappie, and bluegill, across open-water and ice-fishing modes. Saltwater is explicitly out of scope.

The service is provided “as is.” See the AI-Generated Advice and Disclaimers sections below for important limits on what the site’s output represents.

No Account Required

FishingAdvisor does not require an account, email address, or any personal identifier to use. You can generate forecasts anonymously on the web and in the app.

If we add account features in future versions (saved waters, catch logging, etc.), the relevant Terms sections will be added at that time and you will be notified.

Acceptable Use

You agree to use FishingAdvisor only for its intended purpose: planning, evaluating, and improving your own fishing trips. Specifically, you agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer, scrape, automate, or attempt to extract bulk data from the site
• Use the site to harass, abuse, or harm any person
• Resell or sublicense access to FishingAdvisor or its outputs
• Attempt to bypass rate-limits or otherwise interfere with the site’s normal operation
• Use the site for any purpose that violates applicable laws, including but not limited to fishing regulations in your jurisdiction
• Republish forecasts, recommendations, or other outputs as your own work without attribution

We reserve the right to block access from IP addresses that violate these rules.

Fishing Regulations and Legal Compliance

FishingAdvisor’s recommendations may reference fishing techniques, baits, lures, or approaches that may or may not be legal in your specific jurisdiction. Fishing regulations vary widely by state, water body, season, and species. They change over time.

You are solely responsible for:

• Knowing and following all applicable fishing regulations in your jurisdiction
• Holding required licenses, permits, or registrations
• Observing season closures, size limits, daily limits, and other take restrictions
• Using only legally permitted bait, tackle, and methods for your specific water body
• Complying with any special-regulation areas (catch-and-release zones, restricted seasons, etc.)

Always verify current rules with your state fish & wildlife agency before fishing. A list of state agency websites is available at the USFWS state agency directory.

FishingAdvisor does not make legality claims for our recommendations. If a recommended lure, bait, or technique is illegal in your jurisdiction, do not use it regardless of what our site suggests.

Ice fishing carries additional risk that is uniquely your responsibility. FishingAdvisor does not verify, imply, or predict ice safety. Never rely on any output from this service to decide whether ice is safe. Check ice conditions locally, follow your state agency’s guidance, and use standard ice-safety equipment.

AI-Generated Advice

FishingAdvisor uses artificial intelligence to generate the fishing conditions analysis and lure/bait recommendations. The AI is provided by Anthropic (via the Claude API) and is bounded to the fishing conditions domain by our prompts.

You acknowledge that:

• AI output is generated, not authoritative. While we ground recommendations in primary-source data (NOAA weather, USGS water temperature, calculated solunar values) and a curated tackle taxonomy, the AI can produce incorrect, incomplete, or surprising answers.
• FishingAdvisor is not a substitute for personal experience or local knowledge. Conditions and behaviors vary by specific waters in ways our model cannot fully capture. Local guides, bait shops, and experienced anglers on your specific water have knowledge we do not.
• Following FishingAdvisor’s advice is your choice. Outcomes — a slow day on the water, fish not biting where we suggested, a recommended lure not producing — are not warranted by us.
• AI processing requires sending your inputs and current conditions data to Anthropic’s servers. See our Privacy Policy for what data is shared, how it is protected, and your rights.

Affiliate Links

FishingAdvisor includes affiliate links to product pages via the Amazon Associates program. When you click an affiliate link and complete a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Our recommendations are selected based on conditions matching and species appropriateness, not based on commission rates. We are transparent about which links are affiliate links via per-card disclosure.

If you prefer not to support FishingAdvisor through affiliate purchases, you can search for the recommended products directly without clicking our links — the products themselves are widely available from many retailers.

Intellectual Property

FishingAdvisor (the site, its design, the lure recommendation analysis presentation, and all original UI/UX) is the intellectual property of Christopher Hilmoe. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of these elements without written permission.

Conditions analysis output and lure recommendations generated by the site are presented for your personal use in planning your fishing trips. You may take screenshots, save them, or reference them in private use. You may not systematically scrape outputs to build a competing service or republish bulk content from the site without permission.

Third-party trademarks (Anthropic, Cloudflare, NOAA, USGS, Amazon, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and the brand names of lure manufacturers) belong to their respective owners and are used here under standard nominative-use principles.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

Warranty disclaimer

FishingAdvisor is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant that AI-generated advice is accurate, reliable, or suitable for your specific fishing situation. We do not warrant that weather or water data from third-party sources (NOAA, USGS) is accurate or current.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall FishingAdvisor or its owner be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, fishing trip expenses, or other intangible losses, resulting from:

• (A) Your use or inability to use the site;
• (B) AI-generated advice or predictions;
• (C) Weather, water, or solunar data obtained from third-party sources;
• (D) Unsuccessful fishing trips, lure/tackle purchases made based on recommendations, or fines or penalties from regulatory violations;
• (E) Weather-related injury or harm suffered while fishing; or
• (F) Any other matter relating to the site.

Our total cumulative liability to you for all claims arising from your use of FishingAdvisor shall not exceed $100 USD.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability; in those jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the extent permitted by law.

Safety disclaimer

Fishing involves inherent risks including but not limited to: weather hazards (lightning, sudden storms, high wind, hypothermia, hyperthermia), water hazards (drowning, capsizing, currents), ice hazards (unsafe or unpredictable ice conditions), wildlife encounters, equipment failures, and unfamiliar terrain.

FishingAdvisor’s forecasts may include weather information but are not a substitute for your own monitoring of weather conditions and your own judgment about safety. Do not fish in conditions you are not equipped or experienced to handle. When weather is hazardous, do not fish — no recommendation we make is worth your safety.

You assume all risks associated with fishing trips you take based on FishingAdvisor’s outputs.

Termination

You can terminate your relationship with FishingAdvisor at any time by simply not using the site.

We may suspend or block your access to FishingAdvisor at any time if you violate these Terms, if your access is associated with abuse or scraping, or if continued access poses risk to other users or our infrastructure.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of FishingAdvisor shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

If you reside in a jurisdiction whose mandatory consumer protection laws provide rights that override this choice, those rights apply notwithstanding this section.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as the site evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page.

If you do not agree with the revised Terms, your remedy is to stop using the site.
